Zaria is a major city in Kaduna State with a predominantly Muslim population. It’s the traditional capital of the Kingdom of Zazzau, founded in the sixteenth/ seventeenth century by the legendary Queen Amina. Zaria is a key centre for trade and agriculture in the region, and houses one of Nigeria’s lead universities: the Ahmadu Bello University (1962).
