Description

Behavioural change project with the dual aim of providing sexuality education to adolescents, and preventing drop out from schools due to teenage pregnancy. Through drama and IEC, the target groups (secondary school students and drop outs in selected locations) were involved in peer education & counselling training and information dissemination, with a special focus on challenging factors limiting young women's educational opportunities and rehabilitating dashed hopes

Key Results

  • Adolescent sexuality issues and school drop-out were brought to the front burner issues in all the ten schools
  • Student Drama and Health Clubs were set up in most of the schools
  • Self-esteem of school drop outs raised and many of them re-registered to complete their secondary education
  • Schools and Ministry representatives (especially in Jos) came to talk about the health curriculum needs of schools
